Rumor has it Robert Kennedy has accepted a position in President Trump’s cabinet. Kennedy will be assigned to a special vaccine safety position. This is great news to anyone who is not in the big pharmaceutical business!
This decision is likely to concern scientists and public health experts who fear the incoming administration could give legitimacy to skeptics of childhood immunizations.
Yep, you heard that correctly – vaccine critic, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will chair Trump’s vaccine safety and scientific panel! This makes it clear that President Trump does not trust vaccines and gives us all hope that he will also not allow mandatory vaccinations, which is a blatant violation to our basic rights. Someone pinch me!
Kennedy, son of the famous attorney general and nephew of former President John F. Kennedy, is a vocal critic of vaccines and regularly expresses concerns that certain preservatives in vaccines could cause developmental disorders or other negative side effects.
Kennedy has been very out-spoken about questioning the safety of vaccines and advanced arguments that there is a link between the immunizations and autism.
The following is a comment on NYTimes.com by Kennedy:
In researching our book, “Thimerosal: Let the Science Speak,” Dr. Martha R. Herbert, Dr. Mark Hyman and I identified hundreds of peer-reviewed studies by government and university scientists showing that thimerosal, a mercury-containing preservative, is a devastating toxin linked to neurological disorders now epidemic in American children. Among these were 39 studies strongly suggesting that thimerosal causes autism.
According to The Hill, Kennedy told a Sacramento audience in 2015, that drug companies can “put anything they want in that vaccine and they have no accountability for it.“
Personally, I’m thankful that it appears (so far, anyway) that President Trump is planning to keep his promises.
